Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Program Phase-III 2016 Starts

After successful completion of Phase-II of PMYSDP launched to enhance employment opportunities, aleviate poverty and to provide skilled workforce to large, medium & small scale industry and to meet the international labour market needs, the Government has initiated "Prime Minister's Youth Skill Development Program. Under this program, 25,000 Unemployed Youth(belonging from lower and middle class families) will be provided Skill Development Training in demand driven trades.

The program is being executed by National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), Government of Pakistan. The duration of Programs is 4 to 6 months (including 1 month On-Job-Training) The selected trainees will be given monthly stipend of Rs. 2,500/- (Rs. 3,500 for FATA Trainees). In few trades free Tool-Kits will also be provided. The training will be provided in 350 public & private sector Technical & Vocational Training Institutes, across the country.

The training will be imparted in 100 Demand Driven Trades. These trades have been selected in consultation with TVET Stakeholders.

Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) is an autonomous corporate body established by the Punjab Government through the PVTC Act of 1998. Its mission is to alleviate poverty through Muslim charity (Zakat) and private sector participation by imparting demand driven skill training and enhancing employability for disadvantaged youth.

Establishment of PVTC came through the realization that the less privileged sections of the society eligible for Zakat should be so empowered economically that they are able to sustain themselves and their families and engage in dignified economic activity. One of the better ways to use Zakat was to provide technical and vocational skills to the youth including girls and boys with certain minimum academic qualifications. This idea of economic empowerment would generate a multiplier effect in terms of economic activity and provide dignified monthly income to them and their families so that they come out of the eligibility of Zakat bracket.

Imparting of skill training in market relevant trades would obviously bring much higher rate of return than general education. With the establishment of PVTC, training the young girls and boys into professionally equipped and trained craftsmen has brought quantifiable dividends in the lives of these people.

TEVTA was made by an ordinance passed by the Government in 2010. The ordinance was made by changing the ordinance (No. XXIV, 1999) which was presented by the Punjab Government of that time. The chairperson of TEVTA is Mr. Irfan Qaisar Sheikh.

Vision and objectives- they are responsible for providing technical education, vocational training in institutes of the Punjab. They are working for improving the existing infrastructure of technical education center under the proper management. The technical education and vocational training is improving by certification and awards which are distributed by an authority at the national level. Their main focus is to meet the challenge of the main supply of energy which is a serious crisis in our country. They are developing the institutions for the training of technical education and taking feedback in the form of the examination system and practical applications of this education as training part. We are utilizing the men power by conducting the short courses and evaluating the skills of appearing candidates.

Institutions- The technical education and vocational institutes are spreading throughout the Punjab Province like Attock, Bakkhar, Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Chinniot and many more, but the service centers are restricted to certain areas of Punjab including Khanewal, Multan, Muzaffar Garh, Kasur, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Rawalpindi.

Courses- We are offering technical education courses which include B.Tech degree and Hons, DAE, Diploma and Post Diploma. Our vocational courses include vocational diploma, Diploma GII, Diploma GIII and certificate. Our academic calendar is representing some courses like DVTT, DVTD, GI and GII level morning and evening shift and GII level on a semester basis. We are focusing the most demanding education level of a country which is helpful to support the industry.
