It was around a year since free public Wi-Fi in Punjab was announced by the Chief Minster Punjab Shahbaz Sahrif, since then no official words regarding this free Wi-Fi project came on. Many of the people waiting for it might have forget this but the Punjab govt has not not forgot, they are still on it and will soon be launching this project.

Umair Saif announces free public Wi-Fi for Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi:


Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), Umar Saif via social media announced the project which is just on its final take. According to the updates, free Wi-Fi service will be launched in three cities across Punjab, the service is all set to launch in Lahore and further it will be befitting Multan and Rawalpindi.

The free Wi-Fi service will be providing 11 public places of Lahore, including 12 parks, 17 major market places and 20 college/universities. According to the media updates total PKR 15 cr is being spent for this service only for Lahore.

After setting this service in Lahore, further it will be initiated in Rawalpindi and Multan in several months.

Pursuant to the announcement made by the Federal Finance Minister in his 2001-2002-budget speech, a STUDENTS LOAN SCHEME (SLS) for Education was launched by the Government of Pakistan in collaboration with major commercial banks of Pakistan (NBP, HBL, UBL, MCB and ABL). Under the Scheme, financial assistance is provided by way of Interest Free Loans to the meritorious students who have financial constraints for pursuing their studies in Scientific, Technical and Professional education within Pakistan.

The Scheme is being administered by a high powered committee comprising Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, Presidents of the commercial banks and representative of Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan.

Administrator of the Scheme: National Bank of Pakistan.

ELIGIBILITY • 

Under the scheme the students are eligible to apply for loans provided: 

i) He/She has obtained admission on merit through normal course/procedure in the approved Universities/Colleges of the public sector mentioned hereunder. 

ii) He/She falls at the time of admission within the age bracket of:- For Graduation Not exceeding 21 Years For Post-Graduation Not exceeding 31 Years For Ph.D Not exceeding 36 Years 

iii) He/She has secured 70% marks in the last public examination. 

iv) He/She has undertaken the study of the subjects given below. 

v) He/She is unable to pursue studies due to financial constraints. 

TYPES OF LOAN 

The loan facility will be available for entire duration of the study for:- Schedule Fee Paid directly to the Boarding expenses excluding meal charges University/College Procurement of textbooks --- Disbursed directly to the student 

REPAYMENT OF LOAN 

The maximum period of repayment of loan is 10-Years from the date of disbursement of first installment. The borrower shall repay the loan in monthly installment after six months from the date of first employment or one year from the date of completion of studies, which ever is earlier.

Application Forms are available from the designated branches mentioned above or may be downloaded from National Bank of Pakistan website www.nbp.com.pk/studentloan .

The students desirous of availing loan under the Scheme may apply on prescribed form for financial assistance subject to he or she has got admission on merit through normal procedure in the Universities/ Colleges afore-mentioned. 

Applicants are required to submit/send their applications on the prescribed form, duly completed in all respect, to the designated branches indicated against each University/College by the given date. Incomplete application shall not be entertained.

LAHORE – The Punjab School Education Department (SED) will award tablets (tabs) to 5th and 8th class students amid performance in their annual examination.

The SED has prepared a list of 54 thousand students and 24 hundred teachers who are teaching science subjects to class 5 and class 8. However, the teachers of others subjects are likely to be ignored in the distribution of tabs. According to the sources – only those students – who get good grades in the ongoing Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) exams of class 5 and 8, will be awarded with tabs featuring latest specifications.

The sources further told that those teachers whose students’ pass ratio will be better; they will be only eligible for getting these tabs.

Pakistan Post is holding 45th International Letter Writing Competition 2016 for students & common people to join move of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The theme for the competition is “Write a letter to your 45th old loved”, said a press note.  In addition to Pakistan Postage Album and certificate of merit; following three cash prizes will be awarded to those winning first three positions in this competition, first prize Rs. 20,000, second Rs. 10,000 and third Rs. 5000. The best letter (English Version only) will be sent to the UPU, where a jury set up by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will select winners to be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals bearing relevant inscription and their names as well as albums of the UPU official postage stamps.


In addition, the next four or five winners will be awarded certificates and consolation prizes by the UPU. The envelopes must be clearly marked as “45th International Letter Writing Competition (2016).

The participate sending a letter either in English or Urdu to the Assistant Director (International Post) Pakistan Post Directorate General G-8/4, Islamabad-44080. 

The following particulars should be authenticated by the Head of the Institution, full name, father’s, name, age, class, photograph of the candidate,name of institution with complete address and telephone number and length of letter from 500 to 800 words. 

 
Each participant must send his or her entry by Urgent Mail Service (UMS) or through Registered Post from any Post Office. Sending of entries in bulk is not allow and the entries received in this way will be returned.

Provincial Minister Labor and Human Resources, Punjab, said that they are offering training to UN employed youth it will enable them to get foreign jobs.

Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that the Punjab government is taking all concrete measures to enhance labour export and foreign exchange by providing latest and demand based skill training to the youth of the province.

Addressing a ceremony to distribute employment visas among successful 73 trainees from various districts of the province, mostly from southern Punjab, to work in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This training was organized and fundedby Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) and Malsol Technical Training Services imparted this training.

The Secretary of Labour and HR, Ali Sarfaraz, member Skills Development Board and MPA Saira Iftikhar, Chief Operating Officer PSDF Ali Akbar Bosan, CEO Mansol Technical Training Services Abdul Khaliq Khan, Officers from PSDF, Labour and HR Department, Industrialist and labourers attended the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that the event marks a significant milestone in exporting labour from Punjab Province to GCC countries as it follows the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to impart skill training to two million youth of the province till 2018 under Punjab Growth Strategy Programme.

He further said that Punjab Government appreciates the role of public and private sector’s skill training institutes including PSDF to provide skill training to the unemployed youth of the province for elimination of poverty. Raja Ashfaq Sarwar apprised the participants that Punjab Government has targeted to get a fair share of labour export in FIFA World Cup 2022 and Dubai Expo 2020 by upgrading training institutes in Public Sector and remodeling syllabus of these institutes according to the demand of these countries.

COO PSDF Ali Akbar Bosan said that his institute has funded to provide latest skill training to more than 1,11000 youth of the province by its funds with the help of UK AID and World Bank. He said that PSDF has expended its training programmes throughout the Punjab and has fixed the target of providing skill training to 65000 youth every year.

Ali Akbar Bosan said that more than 25000 students are getting different skills training in 150 public and private training institutes, presently while more than 170 industrial skills units are registered with PSDF and data of the trained graduates is shared with them on regular basis so as to ensure their job opportunities in local and foreign industry.

 لاہور ( کامرس رپورٹر) صوبائی وزیر محنت وانسانی وسائل راجہ اشفاق سرورنے کہا ہے کہ موجودہ حکومت جنوبی پنجاب سمیت صوبہ بھر کے بے روزگار نوجوانوں کو جدید فنی تربیت فراہم کر کے انہیں اندرون و بیرون ملک ملازمت کی فراہمی کے لیے بھرپور اقدامات کررہی ہے۔ پنجاب سکلز ڈویلپمنٹ فنڈ (PSDF)کے مالی تعاون سے 73نوجوانوں کو نجی تربیت فراہم کرنے والے ادارے سے ٹریننگ کی تکمیل کے بعدملازمت کے لیے ابوظہبی بھجوایا جارہاہے۔انہوں نے یہ بات گزشتہ روز پنجاب سکلز ڈویلپمنٹ فنڈ کے زیر اہتمام تربیت مکمل کرنے والے گرایجویٹس میں ایمپلائمنٹ ویزہ تقسیم کرنے کی تقریب کے شرکاء سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہی۔ سیکرٹری لیبر علی سرفراز ، ممبر سکلز ڈویلپمنٹ بورڈ و ایم پی اے سائرہ افتخار ، چیف آپریٹنگ آفیسرپی ایس ڈی ایف علی اکبر بوسن ، سی ای او میل سول ٹیکنیکل ٹریننگ سروسز عبدالخالق کے علاوہ مختلف صنعتی اداروں کے مالکان ، مزدور تنظیموں کے نمائندوں ، تربیت مکمل کرنے والے نوجوانوں اور والدین نے تقریب میں شرکت کی۔ راجہ اشفاق سرور و دیگر شرکاء نے گرایجویٹس میں ایمپلائمنٹ ویزہ بھی تقسیم کئے، تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے وزیر محنت نے کہا کہ وزیراعلیٰ محمد شہبازشریف کے ویژن کے مطابق پنجاب گروتھ سٹریجی 2018ء کے تحت 20لاکھ نوجوانوں کو جدید دور اورملکی و غیر ملکی صنعتوں کی ڈیمانڈ کے مطابق فنی تربیت کے لیے پنجاب سکلز ڈویلپمنٹ فنڈودیگر ادارے نجی شعبے کے تعاون سے بھرپور اقدامات کررہے ہیں تاکہ بے روزگاری وغربت کا خاتمہ اور زر مبادلہ میں اضافہ ممکن ہوسکے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قطر میں ہونے والے فیفاورلڈ کپ 2022ء اور دبئی ایکسپو 2020ء کے لیے خلیجی ممالک کو ہنر مند افرادی قوت کی ایکسپورٹ کے لیے پنجاب بھر کے نوجوانوں کو جدید تربیت دی جارہی ہے۔ چیف آپریٹنگ آفیسرپنجاب سکلز ڈویلپمنٹ فنڈ علی اکبر بوسن نے کہا کہ ادارے نے یوکے ایڈ اور ورلڈ بنک کے مالی تعاون سے اب تک ایک لاکھ11ہزار سے زائد نوجوانوں کو جدید فنی تربیت فراہم کی ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پنجاب سکلز ڈویلپمنٹ فنڈ کے زیر اہتمام تربیتی پروگرامزکا دائرہ کار اب پورے پنجاب تک بڑھایا جاچکاہے اور اس وقت 150نجی و سرکاری تربیتی اداروں میں25ہزار سے زائد طلباء و طالبات جدید فنون کی تربیت کررہے ہیں جبکہ ہر سال 65ہزار افراد کو تربیت فراہم کا ہدف مقرر کیا گیاہے نیز 170سے زائد صنعتی ادارے پنجاب سکلز ڈویلپمنٹ فنڈ کے ساتھ رجسٹرڈ ہیں جن کے ساتھ تربیتی یافتہ گرایجویٹس کا ڈیٹا شیر کر کے ان کی اندرون و بیرون ملک ملازمت یقینی بنائی جارہی ہے۔ سیکرٹری لیبر علی سرفراز نے کہا کہ حکومت پنجاب تربیت حاصل کرنے والے گرائجویٹس کی بین الاقوامی اداروں سے سرٹیفکیشن اورخلیجی ممالک میں لیبر ایکسپورٹ کے لیے موثر لائحہ عمل پر عملدرآمد کررہی ہے۔انہوں نے نوجوانوں کو تربیت فراہم کرنے والے نجی تربیتی اداروں کے کردار کو سراہا اور کہا کہ حکومت پنجاب بے روزگار کے خاتمے کے لیے ان اداروں کی بھرپور حوصلہ افزائی کرتی رہے گی.
